Website Photos contest

Pictures Needed for the Parish Website!

If you have high quality digital photographs that you’d would be willing to let us use, please email Kevin Liu at Liu2006@lawnet.ucla.edu.

In addition we’ll be running a photography contest.  1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded for best overall portfolio. Judges will be Fr. Shamo, Mark, and the 3 Wardens.  Prizes to be determined.  

Submissions due (digital format- you may submit them via a usb flash drive, which WILL be returned or contact Kevin Liu for alternatives) by May 8, 2016.  

Guidelines:

1. -Submit up to one photograph for each category
2. -Color or Black/White, or any combination.
3. -By submitting the photos, you are indicating that you control the rights to the photo and are agreeing to let us use them on the website and other promotional materials for St. Mary in Palms.
4. -You do not need to submit a photo for all categories, but obviously you are more likely to win if you do so.
5. -The pictures should have some connection to St. Mary in Palms, whether the people, buildings, or actives of the community; be creative, ask for access to things and places you don’t normally encounter, etc.
6. -For each photo, please include location and the names of any persons appearing.

Here's what's making news THIS WEEKEND  AT ST. MARY'S:  

1. SUNDAY, APRIL 10: THE THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER

• Food Sale after the 10 am Mass to raise funds for our Outreach projects. There will be vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Come, support a worthy cause.
• Encourage your family and friends to come to church with you.

2.  BIBLE STUDY: (English edition) Every Wednesday from 6:30 to 7: 30 pm. 

• We meet in the Sacristy.

• We are currently studying the Book of Proverbs 

• No experience necessary. 

• Bring your Bible and your friends 
• Spanish Edition: We meet on Friday from about 7 pm either in the Chapel at St. Mary or in a parishioner's home. Please, call Fr. Juan (213-434-0476) for more details. 

3.  CLASSES IN CHRISTIAN FORMATION : SUNDAYS AT 11:30 AM to 12 PM

SERIES ON "EXPLORING THE RICH TREASURES IN THE BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER"

1. SATURDAY, MARCH 20: PASSION (PALM) SUNDAY 

• Liturgy includes singing of the Passion Gospel. 
• Misa (Spanish) at 1:30 pm 

2.  HOLY WEEK AND EASTER SERVICES AT ST. MARY'S:

• 7 pm, Thursday, March 24: Maundy (Holy) Thursday. 
• Liturgy includes the rite of the foot-washing, Mass and private meditation at the Altar of Repose. 
• 7 pm, Friday, March 25: Good Friday Proper Liturgy. 
• Liturgy includes praying the Solemn Collects, the Veneration of the Cross, Communion from the Pre-sanctified. 
• 8 pm, Saturday, March 26: Easter Vigil. 
• Liturgy includes lighting of the new fire, the singing of the Exsultet, and finishing with Mass.
