Here is what is making news in our parish:

1. THIS WEEKEND  AT ST. MARY:  

• Saturday, August 29 from 9 am to 4 pm:  Free Stewardship Conference at Cathedral Center, 840 Echo Park Ave. Los Angeles. If interested, please, talk with Fr. Vincent asap or just show up at the Cathedral Center, address above. Bring your own lunch.
• SUNDAY, August 30:  FOURTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

• Invite your friends and buddies to church
• Weather will be hot, please, stay hydrated.

2.  UPDATE ON BR. DEREK FORD, SSF:

• He is on admission at Kaiser West Los Angeles Medical Center, 
  6041 Cadillac Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90034. Room 2831. Last name on file is
  Ford.  
• Visits and flowers welcomed. Thanks to all who have made visits and will be making visits in the coming days.
• As always, a  FRIENDLY reminder to visitors: please, RESPECT PATIENT CONFIDENTIALITY

3.  BIBLE STUDY: Every Tuesday from 6:30 to 7: 30 pm. 

• We meet in the Sacristy.

• We are studying the Book of the Acts of the Apostles 

• No experience necessary. 

• Bring your Bible and your friends

 4.   UPCOMING CHRISTIAN EDUCATION MATERIALS

• Sunday, August 30: 
• Class in Anglican Chant
• We will gather around the piano in the church
• Music Director, Mark Kennedy will teach the class

• Time: 11:30 am to 12 pm 

5.  UPCOMING EVENTS:  

• First Communion Classes: Registration for both English and Spanish congregations are still open. Please, contact Fr. Juan Barragan at PadreJuanBar@gmail.com or at the Parish Office
• Patronal Festival of our parish: Sunday, September 13. A bilingual service at 11:30 am. Potluck following. Please, sign up this Sunday to provide food, set up and take down. 
• Saturday, September 26 from 11 am to 3 pm. The 4th annual Faris Drive Block party. All kinds of volunteer help urgently needed. Please, talk to Fr. Vincent, asap.
