Here is what is making news in our parish:

1. THIS WEEK AT ST. MARY - SUNDAY, MARCH 2:

• Last Sunday after Epiphany. 

2.    ASH WEDNESDAY -  March 5: 

• services at 8 am; 12 pm and 7 pm.   

3.  DONATION VIA OUR WEBSITE:

• Thanks to the efforts of many, the "donation" button on our our parish website has been re-installed and working very well. It is now possible to make donations or make pledge payments to our parish via Paypal. Spread the word.

3.    PVT. OBED AGOE'S GRADUATION

• On Thursday, February 20, Pvt. Obed Agoe graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC. Fr. Vincent, Florence and Vincent Jr, were there to support him at the celebration.

• For his Advanced Individual Training, Obed is now in the Alpha Company, 1-222nd  Aviation Regiment, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA. Please, keep him in your prayers.

4.  CALIFORNIA WATER CRISIS:

• Please, help conserve water. This is good stewardship. Water is a finite commodity.

• Thanksgiving for moderate rain and showers. Pray for rain and seasonable weather. 

• Please, encourage your friends, family members and neighbors to conserve water.

5.  CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT ST. MARY

• March 2 to April 6: Rehearsing for the "Harrowing of Hell" play

• April 27: Performance of the play: "The Harrowing of Hell" at the 10 am Mass. Cast is needed. multi-generation preferred. If interested, talk to Debora Shuger ASAP.

• May 4, 11, 18, 25:  Anglo-Catholicism

• June 1, 8, 15, 22, 29:  Church and Music

• July: on vacation.

• August: visits to holy sites in Los Angeles.

1. THIS WEEK AT ST. MARY - SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 16

• Sixth Sunday after Epiphany. 

• Christian Education [11:30 am]: Christian Meditation led by Julia B in the Chapel

• Vestry Meeting in St. Cecilia room at 11:30 am

2.   ON BEHALF OF JAI AND THE JOSEPH FAMILY:

• Thanks, everyone for supporting our parish fundraiser last Sunday to replace the kitchen sink. Between the English and Spanish communities, we raised $257. We are $100 away from our target.

• Christian Education [11:30 am]: We continue our four-part series on the "Christian Faith" to be taught by [Fr] Br. Derek, SSF. Please, pick up a flyer. Meet in St. Joseph Hall

3.  Fundraising for replacing kitchen sink:

• Please, support our food sale this Sunday, February 9 following Mass. We need all the help we can find to raise $650 to replace our aged kitchen sink in the parish kitchen which has served us faithfully over many years. If you can help, please, make a check to "St. Mary in Palms" with "Kitchen sink" in the Memo line. Work will commence as soon as all the money is raised. Your donation may be tax-deductible. We have so far received $350 in pledges. Thanks for your generosity.

Kitchen sink fund-raiser

Beloved:

Greetings.

The following advisory is for your information and action:

Food sales fund-raiser, Sunday, February 9:

On Sunday, Feb. 8,  Jai Joseph will lead our parish in hosting a food sale to raise funds for replacing the kitchen sink. We have already raised $350 and we need to raise an additional $400 for the project to begin. This project is long overdue. Even if you cannot be in church on Sunday, please, consider sending us a check towards this project. Thanks. 

Prices: 

• $10.00 a plate of rice + 2 meat and desert  
• 2 sandwiches for $5.00 and some hot dogs  
•  if anyone wants to order extra please, let Jai Joseph know by Friday, Feb. 7 the latest
