Here's what's happening THIS WEEKEND  AT ST. MARY'S

1.  SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25. THE SECOND SUNDAY IN LENT
      • We will be praying The Great Litany on ALL Sundays in Lent 
      • We will be using the Rite 1 Eucharistic Liturgy ALL Sundays in Lent
      • Readings at Mass: Genesis 17:1-7, 15-16Romans 4:13-25Mark 8:31-38
      •  We have FREE 2018 Liturgical calendars courtesy of The Development Office, Diocese of Los Angeles. Please, pick up your copy on Sunday after Mass
      • Please, invite your friends to church

3. LENT AT ST. MARY'S
  • Stations (Way) of the Cross: Fridays at 9:30 am & 6:30 pm
  • Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession): by appointment. Call 310-558-4124
  •  MOVIE SERIES All screenings are on Saturday (at St. Mary in Palms) from 6 - 8 pm. 

        • February 24: To Kill a Mockingbird - a 1962 American drama film directed by Robert Mulligan and starring Gregory Peck. The screenplay by Horton Foote is based on Harper Lee's 1960 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name.
        • March 3: The Pursuit of Happyness - a 2006 American biographical drama film based on entrepreneur Chris Gardner's nearly one-year struggle being homeless. Directed by Gabriele Muccino, the film features Will Smith as Gardner, a homeless salesman.
        • March 10: A Smile As Big As The Moon -  a special education teacher, helps his students, trains them, and looks for ways to take them to where they are dreaming to go, space camp! Director:  

        • March 17: The Miracle Worker (1962 version) - The story of Anne Sullivan's struggle to teach the blind and deaf Helen Keller how to communicate. 
        • March 24: What's Eating Gilbert Grape - Gilbert Grape (Johnny Depp) is a small-town young man with a lot of responsibility. Chief among his concerns are his mother (Darlene Cates), who is so overweight that she can't leave the house, and his mentally impaired younger brother, Arnie (Leonardo DiCaprio), who has a knack for finding trouble.

4.  BIBLE STUDY on Wednesdays at St. Mary's:
      • Class meets from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
      • We meet in the Sacristy. Enter from the parking lot off Watseka Ave.
      • Our current study is focused on the Gospel according to St. Mark
      • No previous Bible knowledge required
      • We are using the NIV 2011 translation.  We'll have a Bible for you if needed.

5 CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS OF OUR PARISH
      • On Sunday, September 8, 2019, our parish will by the grace of God, celebrate 100 years of continuous ministry in God's reign and especially in Southern California. 
      • This month, we are praying and thanking God for the sterling christian witness,  faithfulness, stewardship and commitment of former parishioners who made our ministries/mission possible in the 1940s and 1950s
      • If you are a former parishioner or know of one, please, let us know so we can pray and thank God for you/them by name.
