1.  SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 11. THE LAST SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY (QUINQUAGESIMA)
    • We have FREE 2018 Liturgical calendars courtesy of The Development Office, Diocese of Los Angeles. Please, pick up your copy on Sunday after Mass
    • Please, invite your friends to church 

2.  MASS SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK: Morning Prayer at 8:45 and Mass at 9 am

3.  UPCOMING EVENTS

    • Wednesday, February 14: Ash Wednesday. Masses (with imposition of ashes) at 8 am, 12 pm and 7 pm. Please, let us have by noon on Tuesday, February 13 the palm branches from last year to be converted into ashes for the liturgy on Ash Wednesday.
    • Saturday, February 17: Kick-off of our Lenten Movie Series. 
      • This year's offering are: 
        • February 17: Good Will Hunting - 1997 American drama film, directed by Gus Van Sant, and starring Robin Williams, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Minnie Driver and Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd. 
        • February 24: To Kill a Mockingbird - a 1962 American drama film directed by Robert Mulligan. The screenplay by Horton Foote is based on Harper Lee's 1960 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name.
        • March 3: The Pursuit of Happyness - a 2006 American biographical drama film based on entrepreneur Chris Gardner's nearly one-year struggle being homeless. Directed by Gabriele Muccino, the film features Will Smith as Gardner, a homeless salesman.
        • March 10: California Solo - A former Britpop rocker who now works on a farm gets caught driving drunk and faces deportation after living in Los Angeles for many years. 
        • March 17: The Miracle Worker (1962 version) - The story of Anne Sullivan's struggle to teach the blind and deaf Helen Keller how to communicate. 
        • March 24: What's Eating Gilbert Grape - Gilbert Grape (Johnny Depp) is a small-town young man with a lot of responsibility. Chief among his concerns are his mother (Darlene Cates), who is so overweight that she can't leave the house, and his mentally impaired younger brother, Arnie (Leonardo DiCaprio), who has a knack for finding trouble. 
      • All screenings are from 6 - 8 pm. Spread the Word


4.  BIBLE STUDY on Wednesdays at St. Mary's:
    • Class meets from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
    • We meet in the Sacristy. Enter from the parking lot off Watseka Ave.
    • Our current study is focused on the Gospel according to St. Mark
    • No previous Bible knowledge required
    • We are using the NIV 2011 translation.  We'll have a Bible for you if needed.

5 CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS OF OUR PARISH
    • On Sunday, September 8, 2019, our parish will by the grace of God, celebrate 100 years of continuous ministry in God's reign and especially in Southern California. 
    • This month, we are praying and thanking God for the sterling christian witness,  faithfulness, stewardship and commitment of former parishioners who made our ministries/mission possible in the 1940s and 1950s
    • If you are a former parishioner or know of one, please, let us know so we can pray and thank God for you/them by name.
