Parish UPDATE: Sunday, March 29

Beloved of God and of this parish:

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Here is what is making news in our parish:

1THIS WEEKEND  AT ST. MARY 
  • Saturday, March 28 - 6 to 8:15pm
    • We will be screening the movie "The Passion of the Christ" Depicting the final twelve hours in the life of Jesus of Nazareth, on the day of his crucifixion in Jerusalem. Director: Mel Gibson. Run time: 127 minutes 
    • Bring your family and buddies
    • Refreshments will be served.
  • Sunday, March 29: The Sunday of the Passion [Palm Sunday]
    • We will gather in the patio between St. Joseph Hall and the Rectory for the first part of the service
    • we will process from the patio into the church through the main front doors waving palm branches.

3.   HOLY WEEK SCHEDULE
  • Monday to Wednesday: (March 30 to April 1)
    • Mass at 9 am
  • Maundy Thursday: (April 2)
    • Morning Prayer at 9 am
    • Proper Liturgy including foot-washing and watch before the Altar of Repose beginning at 7 pm
  • Good Friday: (April 3)
    • Morning Prayer at 9 am
    • Stations of the Cross at 12 pm (midday)
    • Proper Liturgy begins at 7 pm
  • Holy Saturday/Easter Vigil: (April 4)
    • Morning Prayer at 9 am 
    • Parish Work Day from 9:30 to 11 am
    • Vigil service begins at 8 pm
4.  EASTER SUNDAY: April 5
    • Mass (English) at 10 am
    • Baptism of Ezra - grandchild of Fr. Vincent and Florence 
    • Parish Easter brunch at 11:30 am in St. Joseph Hall
    • Please, sign up to bring food; this is a POTLUCK event
    • Misa (Mass in Spanish) at 1 pm.

5.  BIBLE STUDY: Every Wednesday from 6:45 to 7 : 45 pm. 
  • We meet in the Sacristy.
  • We are studying the Book of the Acts of the Apostles 
  • No experience necessary. 
  • Bring your Bible and your buddies.

6. LENT BOOK STUDY
  • A GROWN-UP LENT  by Joanna Leiserson
  • Our classes continue this Sunday,  - from 11:30 am to 12 pm.

7.   UPCOMING EVENTS 
  • Registration for First Communion Classes for both English and Spanish congregations are now open. Please, contact Fr. Juan Barragan at PadreJuanBar@gmail.com or at the Parish Office 
  • Saturday, April 25
    • The Disaster Awareness (Free) Course, (DAC) sponsored by the Palms Emergency Preparedness Coalition (PePC). Our parish is a member of this Coalition.  
    • Venue: The IMAN Cultural Center, 3376 Motor Ave. Los Angeles.  
    • Time: 10 am to 12 pm. 
    • Opportunity drawings will be made for the first 100 registrants at the venue on the day of the event. 
    • Light refreshment will be served at no cost to participants. Flyers are in the narthex. Spread the word and invite your friends.
