Here is what is making news in our parish:

1THIS WEEKEND  AT ST. MARY 
  • SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18:  TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST
  • Blessing of recently donated Vestments during Mass
  • Opening of the Book of Remembrance re: All Faithful Departed (All Souls Day). 
  • Invite your friends and buddies to church.

2.  DIGITIZATION OF PARISH RECORDS PROJECT: CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS (2019)
  • As part of plans towards celebrating the Centenary of founding of The Parish of St. Mary in Palms in 2019, we will begin - in January, 2016 - the process of digitization of ALL parish records going as far back as our founding years. 
  • We count on the generosity of our friends, former and current parishioners to help us accomplish this task. If you can help with equipment or expertise in data management, please let Fr. Vincent know. This will be a good time to make a donation and write it off on your 2015 taxes while supporting a truly worthy and noble cause. 
  • Please, pray for this project to succeed to the honor of God's glory. God richly bless your giving. 
3.  BIBLE STUDY: Every Tuesday from 6:30 to 7: 30 pm. 
  • We meet in the Sacristy.
  • We are studying the Book of the Acts of the Apostles 
  • No experience necessary. 
  • Bring your Bible and your friends

4. UPCOMING SERIES ON FAITH FORMATION:

A. Sunday, October 18 and 25
    • Conversations on the possibility of starting a Stephen's Ministries at St. Mary. Series will include short videos and Q & A.

    • we'll meet in St. Joseph Hall from 11:30 am  

B.  NOVEMBER 15 to DECEMBER 13:  Kathleen Norris's "Embracing A Life of Meaning". A five-session Study. 

        Session 1:   Belief Matters:  To what do we give our hearts? What is the core message of what we believe?

        Session 2:   The Bible Matters: How is the Bible's story reflected in our daily lives? What is it about the Bible that always seems to address our present moment?

        Session 3:   Community Matters: In community, individualism and imperfection meet grace and acceptance. What is our part in the Body of Christ?

        Session 4:    Place Matters: In what ways is faith set within the physical space of home, church, land, and people?

        Session 5:   We Matter: What does it mean to remain in God's image and to counter our selfishness by embracing the world and its needs.
  • Participant's Workbook: $12.95.

  • Sunday, October 25: Celebrating the 61st Anniversary of Fr. Otto Harold Anderson's ordination to the Sacred Order of Deacons. Fr. Anderson will be the Celebrant at Mass. Join us on this day at 10 am to celebrate Fr. Anderson's ministry among us and within God's kingdom. TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY.

Parish UPDATE: Sunday, October 4

Beloved of God and of this parish:

Here is what is making news in our parish:

1THIS WEEKEND  AT ST. MARY 
  • SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4:  NINETEENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST
  • Telling our favorite Br. Derek stories: join us this Sunday, October 4 (Feast of St. Francis) for Mass and a celebratory refreshment time immediately following Mass in St. Joseph Hall.

    We will have opportunity to tell our favorite Br. Derek story, reflect on his life, witness and draw strength from one another in our grief and bereavement to carry his faith legacy forward.  We will hope to wrap up by 12:30 pm. If you know anyone who might benefit from such a time of sharing, please, invite the person to this event. If you would like to make a donation to the Br. Derek, SSF memorial fund, please make check payable to "St. Mary in Palms" with "Br. Derek memorial fund" in the Memo column. Thank you for your generosity.

    If you would like to bring some food or refreshment, that would be okay but Vestry will provide enhanced coffee hour materials.
