Here's what's making news THIS WEEKEND  AT ST. MARY'S

1 SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 12. THE SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY
      • Please, invite your friends to church

2.   BIBLE STUDY: 
    • (English) Wednesdays, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the church.
    • We are currently studying the Letter of James
    • Join us if you can. We'll meet in the Sacristy

3.  UPCOMING EVENTS

    • ASH WEDNESDAY is March 1. There will be three services with imposition of ashes at 8 am; 12 pm and 7 pm
    • Please, return the palm branches from Palm Sunday 2016 as soon as you can so we can get ready (on Shrove Tuesday) the ashes needed for the Ash Wednesday services. 
    • LENT is always a good time to make sacramental confession. Please, call the office for an appointment for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
    • Except for any emergency, the next time the Sacrament of Baptism will be administered will be on Easter Sunday, April 16. If you know anyone needing this sacrament, have him/her call Fr. Vincent or Petra at the church office soon.


4.   CLASSES IN CHRISTIAN FORMATION : SUNDAY AT 11:30 AM to 12 PM
      • Sunday, February 26: The Sanctification of Time. Sean Smith will lead the class. 
      • From March 5: "The Screwtape Letters: C. S. Lewis. Class will be taught by Debora Shuger, Ph.D. Get your copy of the book before class.
      • We'll meet in the Lady Chapel.

2.   EPISCOPALIANS, LUTHERANS TO CELEBRATE MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY TOGETHER ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 15


  • Presiding Bishop Michael B. Curry will be the keynote speaker when members of the Diocese of Los Angeles and the Southwest California Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America come together on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 3 p.m. for a joint worship service celebrating the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.


  • The theme for the gathering, to be held at Westchester Lutheran Church, is “Living the Dream of God Now.” All are welcome;


  • clergy are invited to vest (white albs and red stoles) and process.

    1 SUNDAY, JANUARY 1. FEAST OF THE HOLY NAME OF JESUS OR, THE CIRCUMCISION OF CHRIST 
        • Please, invite your friends to church
        • Last day to submit Pledge Cards is Sunday, January 1. The Vestry needs to complete the work on our 2017 budget and your help would be most appreciated.
        • if you have not done so already, please, get a copy of our parish's 2017 Liturgical Calendar (Ordo) for your friends. A $3:00 suggested donation to offset cost is recommended

    2.  NEW YEAR'S EVE  AT ST. MARY'S
      • Mass at 9 am
      • NO Vigil Mass or New Year's Eve Mass but chapel will be opened to the public until 12 am for private meditation
      • Join us if you can
